Still a simple yes

By definition, it's a contradiction.
Two opposing ideas that somehow feel like one.

Do I live this lifestyle by choice or constraint?
Yes. I choose to constrain my affections.

Did I make this choice out of a feeling of romance or to fulfill a requirement?
Again, the answer is yes. I require myself to feel romantic.

So have I become passionately obsessed or practically obligated?
You guessed it, another yes.

Am I in a love relationship or a legalistic contract?
Still a simple yes.

What am I even talking about! Is this about being married or being a writer?
Yes.

Just Lunch

The restaurant was a familiar one. I hadn't been here in years, but things haven't changed much.

One of the waitresses recognizes me.

"He's in the back" she says, pointing to a table in the corner. There sat my father.

The years between us hadn't changed much. I think we even ordered the same meals we used to. Our conversation sounded the same too. We joked about the all same things. And we managed to avoid asking the same question we had been ignoring for years.

Now is not the time for awkward questions. After all, this is just lunch
